Importing Your Messages
Get your most recent messages into your logs
Mostly you’ll be just making notes about conversations you’ve had with people or DMs you’ve sent. There’s no point storing every detail about the meeting you were setting up in Derry next month, just log “chat about the Derry meet” and it’s enough.
But - sometimes it’s useful to have a note of the last conversation or DM you had with someone months or years ago.
It’s certainly interesting …
Import
To import the most recent messages, follow the instructions to Import Your Contacts and include Messages in your LinkedIn archive. That’s all!
Behind the scenes
When we import, there are a few things going on that are possibly important to understand:
- We’re ignoring anything that was marked as spam
- We’re ignoring any conversations involving lots of people
- We’re taking the last two conversations with a contact and adding them to your log
- After a few minutes all data is cleaned up so we don’t store your entire connection history anywhere
- If you import again, the same thing happens - the last couple of conversations get added to your connection history in the right place on the timeline.
