Ways to Work
There are ways to use Lime that you’ll probably switch between as you get more practice. Here are a few.
After importing your connections, the Dashboard will be full of people to work with. You have to choose who.
Segmenting
There are a few ways to segment your connections:
By Date
On the Search Interface, choose the date to show contacts from. It will go all the way back to your earliest contacts.
After importing your latest contacts, it’s a good idea to go through the recent ones until you’ve nurtured them all.
By Tag
After you’ve tagged your connections, you can begin to select smaller groups. Working through them becomes very quick. Search tag:tagname
where tagname is your tag (e.g. tag:marketing).
See the Tags page to learn how to tag connections.
By Time To Follow Up
When you set a Check-In Schedule for a connection, Lime will automatically present your connections at the right time to follow up. In the search results you’ll see a badge with the number of days left or overdue (or an ! if it’s today).
Last Interaction
Sorting by the last time you interacted with a connection is really useful when you want to quickly run through a smaller Gang. Choose last interaction in the sort order and sort up or down. It’s a great way to work through the connections with a particular tag.
Let’s say you’ve given some people a London tag and you know you’re off there next week, you might bring them up and work through in reverse order, sending DMs and reconnecting.
From Lime to LinkedIn
When you are working strategically it’s good to work from Lime into LinkedIn.
That means:
- Search and segment your connections in Lime (like above)
- Click on the direct links to profiles or activity logs
- Do your thing
- Update Lime
- Repeat
Using this top down approach means you won’t be distracted by everything else in the feed and you’ll be sure to not miss content from or opportunities to engage with the people who are important to you.
From LinkedIn to Lime
Some days you might prefer to work in LinkedIn itself. Keep Lime open in another tab to quickly switch back and forth.
We made this a little easier with the addition of a quick link to a “clean feed” in the main menus which is only content from your first degree connections and people you follow in the last 24 hours. It’s a quick way to make sure you haven’t missed any chances to engage.
When you perform a lime-worthy action on LinkedIn, just flick back to Lime and make a note. It only takes a second but adds loads of value in the future.
